1. Ask yourself a few questions:
Are you imagining an indoor or outdoor event?
What is the maximum guest capacity?
Are you thinking a cocktail style or a seated meal?
And know your “must-haves” for the event: Eg. band, yummy food or jaw dropping themed with amazing decorations.
These answers will give you a great starting point when it comes to comparing different venue options, narrowing it down to figure out which venue is the right one for you.
2. Determine whether you want a blank canvas or a venue space with all the bells and whistles. Blank canvas venues are a great option if you have a bigger budget where as a venue with catering, bar and an allocated space to section off to host will be more cost effective especially if you aren't covering the costs for food and beverages..
*Top Tip* Look for a venue that has all your necessities you require or can vision for your
event. In-house furniture, bar, accommodation,
facilities and glassware to save you time and money.
3. Once you’ve done your research and narrowed down your top two to three venues, begin your site visit journey. A site visit is when you visit a venue to check out the facilities and services that the venue offers.
Your main goal is to look at the event space and decide if it will be a good fit for your requirements, budget, style and vision.
*Top Tip* Consider access to parking, space for setting up and the loading dock. Make sure this is clearly communicated to the suppliers.
4. Lock in your chosen venue as you have done all this work now, you wouldn't want to miss out on your chosen venue space. Consider organising a second site visit with your event planner, they will start connecting with the right suppliers and people to bring your vision to life!
